Miss Travis maintained an impressive record throughout her academic career. In the Chief Superintendent's Annual Report on Schools for 1892, she was listed as the winner of both the Corporation Medal for Dux of Schools and the Governor-General's Bronze Medal for Science. While in her first year at McGill University, according to New Brunswick's Educational Review, Catherine took "first rank honours and prize in mathematics; 1^st rank general standing; prize in chemistry (second place); prize in Latin and Roman history (first place); prize in English; Coster Memorial prize, prize in French (second place) and the Donalda prize for physical culture."
