Shaw's donation of dolls and figurines, combined with those of M. Maude Sanford became very popular among visitors to the museum’s 1924 Oriental Exhibit. "All the world loves a doll," wrote a Saint John Globe reviewer in 1924, and even exceptions to that rule could "not fail to appreciate the extreme daintiness of the costumes."
