Among the sisters' recipes was one for "Gagetown Village Cake," dated August 19th 1893. Like most recipes from the notebooks of skilled bakers, this one is simply an imprecise list of ingredients, and presumes that the cook knows exactly what steps to follow: 1 ½ c.
