Athenian glaux cup

mid-5th century BC

earthenware, 80 x 98 cm

Like other Attic wine cups categorized as "glaux" (owl), this cup has one vertical and one horizontal thumbhold handle, and bears the likeness of an owl. Lusk Webster's friend Charles T. Currelly, director of the Royal Ontario Museum of Archaeology, provided this cup, most likely in exchange for something from Lusk Webster's own family collection.
